We at HowardShore

We at HowardShore.com feel it is necessary to alert fans and followers of The Lord of the Ring Symphony that there are a number of concerts touring Germany that have no association with Howard Shore. The promoter, Gastspiel- und Theaterdirektion Gerhartz GmbH, calls these concerts “Herr der Ringe von Howard Shore in Concert” in effect confusing the ticket buyer. Please be warned, Howard Shore has nothing to do with these concerts. The music that they play is assembled from commercially available sheet music.

This situation is frustrating and disheartening for Mr. Howard Shore and his associates, who are committed to presenting only the highest quality performances of The Lord of the Rings Symphony created by Howard Shore himself from his award-winning composition.

We realize it is often said that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, and we might agree, but unfortunately these performances discourage venues and presenters from booking Howard Shore’s The Lord of the Rings Symphony, thereby cheating concert-going fans of the experience of hearing the music performed live the way it was intended by the composer.

Please spread the word and thank you for your support.

Upcoming performance dates of music from The Lord of the Rings that have been prepared by Howard Shore himself for live performance are listed below. Any other concert performances of The Lord of the Rings music have not been prepared by Howard Shore. We continually update this website as performances are scheduled, so check back regularly for new concert dates and locations.

More on the way!

Update from REPRISE Records confirmed that sales have been so great for The Return of the King – The Complete Recordings that many retailers are currently backordered. The Reprise sales department is working diligently to ship more sets out to the retailers as quickly as possible. They have also already ordered a new pressing from the plant and expect them to hit retailers by December 18.
